Modes Vu is a publishing network with collaborators in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
With a focus on digital, distributed ways of working, Modes Vu publishes print photobooks in a time where the photographic image is undergoing a fundamental transformation. By exploring the use of digital images as a means of communication on social networks, the publisher aims to find a new visual language – a 21st century sentiment of photography.
To do this, Modes Vu uses an iterative process of publishing where books are released in a first, second, and eventually third edition, to fully explore the possibilities of each title. The transformation from Workbook into Green, and eventually into a final MODES edition, takes each work through three edits and re-designs. It is this process of deliberate experimentation that allows for creative freedom to explore new modes of image-making.
